johnhunter44
I am looking for the link that has info about the cable one can plug into the BMW cable plug that comes on a 2009 R1200RT (plug is taped to the steering column) that will let you supply power to a Garmin GPS. I already have the mount and now and presently just plug it in to the accessory outlet, but would be cleaner to use the plug that come on the bike. Any help? Does someone make a cable that will plug into the square BMW plug, then plug directly into the garmin gps to supply power? Thanks... Link to comment
DiggerJim
Max BMW lists the cable you're looking for (to tap into the harness - you'll still need to attach to the GPS wiring) as Part number 83300413585 REPAIR PLUG, 3-PIN - NO. 611656 for $15.58. The fiche (linky) even lays out the wire - rh wire is power, lh wire is ground & middle wire is not used. Link to comment
hopz
Glad you asked... this is a link to a thread on the Zumo Forums that I started a long time ago. Still current... read the whole thing.. http://www.zumoforums.com/index.php?topic=2798.msg22843 Link to comment
questrider
I also have the documentation I used for my GS years ago. I wasn't sure if the discussion board where I obtained the original info would be active years later so I copied it to a page on my website: http://www.questrider.com/gps/howto.html The info is specific to a 12GS but should work the same for an 12RT.
