Bob Palin
Visitors (especially Whip) may have noticed that there seemed to be a lot of Coppers hanging around last weekend, somebody even saw 5 Sheriff's trucks on Sweeper Madness. The reason has become apparent, there is a 1%er gang here this weekend, staying in Bicknell. Name begins with M and named after a country near China. (They have a nice web site and Twitter and Facebook accounts where you can follow them!) Link to comment

yabadabapal
Must be that BMWST is getting quite a reputation. Can you imagine what the LEO and the MC gang must have thought when they heard BMWST was coming into town and meeting at some guys house named Killer! Link to comment
markgoodrich
Maybe this explains the weird scene I witnessed near the Arizona border on 191 on Sunday morning...I think I'd already crossed into AZ, but amn't sure. I was bombing along about 187mph when my radar detector went totally bananas (I'm very thankful for my remote mute button!) and I slowed down to whatever the speed limit was in time to crest a hill and see, first, a motor cop with lights flashinn, an unmarked white SUV with red/blue lights flashing, followed by an LEO SUV, lights flashing, then about a dozen pirate-looking guys on Harley-type bikes, followed very closely by yet another marked LEO SUV, and finally another unmarked SUV. I wondered if perhaps the AZ governor (I must have crossed the border) was perhaps out for a ride with buddies, but remembered that lady prolly doesn't ride, so I just remained puzzled, figured that took care of that quadrant of the state's LEO contingent, and ran the RT up to about 201mph for awhile. Always amazes me that these guys want to be one percenters and act outside the all rules of good conduct. Then whenever they get their panties in a wad, they resort to what the other 99% of folks do when they feel they've been wronged: litigation. What a bunch of tools. Link to comment
JerryMather
Is there any truth to what I heard that there in fact was close to 300 members there along with SWAT and all available LEO's, all the way into Colorado. And that there was a shoot out at Big Rock before they left? Link to comment
Bob Palin
They caused absolutely no trouble, were polite to everybody who encountered them including me, and had a picture taken with the mayor of Torrey which is up on Facebook. There were certainly a lot of police agencies here with a special central command post set up in Bicknell, sheriff's deputies from several counties, highway patrol and some FBI people apparently. JerryMather
I also heard that for the most part they were well behaved except for the thing in Big Rock & that the local women seemed to enjoy the abundance of testosterone brought into the area, so I was told. Link to comment

I'm bringing a bunch of State Motorcycle Rider Education Administrators, and their staffs. Good bunch of guys, most of whom I worked with back in my days at MSF. Bob Palin
Several scathing letters in local papers about the LEO activiity last week, apparently they pulled over a long line of them all at once for 'obstructing traffic'. All the local people I've talked to, except one who made an intelligent assessment of the overall picture, would welcome them back anytime. One of the letters claimed that motorcyclists comprised 25% of the visitors to Torrey, don't know where he got that number but think it is probably a little high. We do have a lot of moto visitors though. The exception said that though they were polite and brought money to the town their overall philosophy made them undesirable on principle. Link to comment
doc47
State Motorcycle Rider Education Administrators Scary! Gimme the Mongols any day! Actually, for an interesting read: Under and Alone by William Queen. Undercover agent who infiltrated the Mongols. Gray Dog and I were sitting drinking scotch one day and reflecting on the general population of BMWST (it was RT then). We thought a ST-based outlaw gang would be a great idea. We could call ourselves Hell's Accountants. We'd cruise en mass into small towns and pull surprise audits. Flat terrorize everyone! Link to comment
