get this economy moving.

Friday PM my new Russell Day-Long Saddle came.

Yesterday took my rear wheel over to Montgomeryville Cycle Center and had Pilot Road 3 installed. Then before I reinstalled the wheel I replaced the rear brake pads.

On the way home from MCC, I picked-up a new Stihl gas hedge trimmer -- haven't figured out exactly how I am going to mount it on the RT.

Other committments kept me from riding too much this weekend. Did get three short rides (20, 50 & 30 miles/ea) in on the new seat. Seems great - probably should have gone this route when I bought my Sargent seat 12-years ago. But I had just got the bike and wasn't sure how long I was going to keep it so at the time a used Sargent was a good replacement for the terrible (for me) Corbin that came with the bike. Really need at least a three or four hour ride to better judge the D-L. However, yesterday while at the dealers having my tire installed, I sat on a couple new R1200RT's and the same discomfort that I had with the Sargent showed up immediatelly without even getting off the center stand. Right now, my gut feel is that the D-L will meet or exceed my expectations.

Also sat on a K1600GTL yesterday. There was a light drizzle at the time so I didn't even ask for a test ride. Seems nice. I liked the driving light set up. The bike was on a side stand so I was able to put my feet down - it seemed manageable even for an vertically challenged OF like me.

This morning, I bleed need to bleed the rear brake then I'm going to try to get a short ride in - thunderstorms predicted for after 1PM. The last 10 days or so have given us in SE PA a good sample of what the Pacific NW people deal with. My toes are starting to grow together.

Last fall after buying my r1150rt, I bought a freshly rebuilt DL seat on eBay. As i'm 6ft tall and weighting 240 lbs, the seat was built for tall heavy peoples. This is the best investment i've done for this bike. I'm so well seated that it makes me forget the tractor look alike of this seat. The original one was a nightmare for me. I had a Sargent on my past ST1100 and I hated it even if it had a gel pad. Day Long seats are simply marvelous and you'll never regret to buy it even if they are costly.

I presently look for a higher windshield and perhaps bar risers. I feel I perhaps need bar risers only when I do duo riding.

...need to bleed the rear brake ...

Why just the rear brake?

Andy

'cause I only replaced the rear pads. Fronts are good. But during the bleeding process the hose started to leak (probably due to disturbing it when I installed the pads). So I'm still down - now waiting for the part and my project to help the economy continues. Maybe, I take a fresh look at the front brake lines since they are just as old.

Yes, and you never know, you might find something else to help keep the economy of America on the up.

Ram make a custom mount for hedge trimmers. Allows you to cut your hedge while going slow in first ;)

How is buying a German hedge trimmer going to help the US economy exactly? Don't HD make a hedge trimmer?

Cheers

Humm ! If such a thing was made by HD, you would loose your teeth when trimming your hedge.

Just after I bought my new to me 04 RT in January, I ordered my Russell seat for it. They ain't cheap but because of it's width and height, my butt and knees felt that it is worth the money.

On my Moto Guzzi Norge I spent more than $1200.00 dollars on different seats and pads before getting the stock seat redone by Russell. What a difference the Russell seat made on long rides. After that experience I decided to just go with the Russell right away and I couldn't be happier with it on the RT as well.

New to this forum and to BMW. My switch from HD has cost me a lot more than I expected but I'm having a great time outfitting my new to me '04 RT. I'm doing my part for the economy as well. My wife is about to shut me down. Every other day I have a new box show up at the house. I'm afraid to list it out. It scares me to think of what the total would be. I really am enjoying riding more and I'm doing it more often because it's fun.

I got to know our parcel delivery man really well when I was equipping a Triumph Speedmaster for a long trip. Almost turned it into a tourer with windshield, lowers, panniers, touring seat, roll bag, sissy bar, tank bag etc etc. After a year I sold it and went back to an RT.

I still have some Triumph gear that I must put on Ebay. I have a leather Triumph jacket that I've only worn once that has shrunk dramatically in storage. Well it fit perfectly last time I wore it anyway.
