Torrey bound folks from NorCal: Road Closure US50

For folks heading to/from Torrey over the Sierras, US50 will be completely closed over Echo Summit for 2 weeks starting May 11th, with ongoing construction before and afterwards. Please refer to:

Also, if re-routing to back roads, be sure to check if road is open first. Being reported in our local paper is still 10 feet of snow on Mormon Emigrant Trail.

Thanks for the info, I'm taking a slight detour this year to meet up with Wurty and was looking at maybe taking US 50.

Mormon Emigrant will also not be open.

 

This makes for a slight detour - I-80 until I get down to US 50. Most likely at Fernley, then down to Fallon. Then on into the great abyss....

 

Still beats 80 all the way.

Hard not to! Enjoy!!! Road was in good shape 2 weeks ago. Just the typical sand in the tighter corners where folks can't keep their tires on the road.

Been that way many time....love the open desert.

 

Problem will be getting OVER the Sierras. May need to take 80...yuch.
