2000 R100RTP, they 'decommissioned' it by disconnecting (AND CUTTING!) some of the wiring; the backup battery, the two accessories plug, the thin one, and the "High Voltage 12V" cigarette lighter size...

Well I want it back. Has anyone reconnected these, and if so what goes where?

I reconnected the two amber turn signals and it was a simple replug, but the accessories plugs AND the former lights on the rollbar shelves just beg to be reactivated.LOL

Goes with these? Either a list of tools or complete set...

It is still snowing today, deep, so the Wyoming Whiner is fully functional today. Now, you may pray for good weather! LOL

Electrics/wiring is a royal PITA on the retired authority models. DAMHIK. It's a matter of exploring the wiring with an indicator tool.

Each one become unique when it's commissioned, and even more unique when it's decommissioned. If you search around, you can find a post somewhere on this board with the list of tools that you should carry with you.

Go to www.bmwmc.net, there are wiring diagrams for several of the "authority" configurations. They assume that you have the original schematics as well, but you ca puzzle out what they are trying to tell you.

The "authority" wiring was separate from the basic wiring, and has its own set of fuses. Just hunt through the site and copy off every diagram and manual that you can find, then start reading and tracing.

good luck dealing with the cut wires. the harnesses don't have much slack in them so depending on how much they cut off, you won't be able to just crimp a new terminal onto the wire and plug it into the light/siren/etc. Don't scrimp on the crimper; make sure you get a quality crimper or vibration, weather and age will eventually lead to numerous electrical problems due to the sub-standard connections. Google information on how to make a proper crimp connection. If you need to extend a wire, your best bet might be to use bullet connectors to add a few inches of wire and then add the proper connector to the end of the extended wire to connect to the component.

Check ebay, beemerboneyard for the necessary parts. (lights, etc.)

Did you visit bmwmc.net? If you live near the department/agency that used the bike, try visiting their garage/shop/traffic unit with pizzas and sodas (or whatever they eat in Casper  ) and ask.. nicely.. if they can dig up the specs on your bike so you'll know which options your bike originally had and which wiring diagram you need to follow.

don't forget to use rubber grommets and tie wraps

Just remember there are laws regulating use of strobes, colored lights, sirens on motor vehicles, and possession/use of them on public roads/highways can subject you to tickets or arrest. Are you sure you want those toys on your bike?

good luck!

I have the solution to all of your problems. You could just buy my 04 rt-p complete with all of the lights (changed to white)and siren. I have been using it for escort work on side jobs and saw that the new 2011 rt-p's were finnaly available and ordered a brand new one. It will be here next week and I will be looking to trade in or sell mine, just a thought.
