On my current lead there is a little black box between the battery terminals and the charger lead, any idea why? Link to comment

Afternoon Jimmy Most of those type leads have a fuse in the wiring somewhere to protect the leads from over-current damage. See if that “black Box” has cover or snap off top that exposes a fuse inside. Link to comment
