Frog
Is the 2000 R1100RT coil supposed to read 7.5K or 13K ohms? Manual states ~13K ohms, but I read elsewhere that at some point they changed to 7.5K ohms. Could they really change the spec without changing the part number? Mine reads 7.2K ohms, is it on it's last legs on not? Frog Link to comment
dirtrider
Afternoon Frog On a cool coil (room temperature) your coil should show .5 ohms on the primary and 7.5K ohms on the secondary. The resistance you measure is dependent on the coil winding temperature and how clean you probe connections are and how accurate your ohmmeter is. Your 7.2K is plenty close to not have a coil problem. Link to comment
Frog
Okay, I will not worry about it! Frog Link to comment
AndyS
Hi Frog, I too read it should be 13Kohm, but the model I was checking measured 7.5Kohm and works fine. So, I am guessing 7.5 is what it should be. Andy Link to comment
Jim Moore
I think that was a misprint in the original manual that got carried over into other manuals. There was one guy who said he had one that measured 13K ohms, but I've never seen one or heard of one besides that one. Link to comment
