Joe Frickin' Friday
Torx or star bits? Size? Thanks, Mark Don't know the size, but I believe Torx and "star" are the same thing. Link to comment
hopz
FYI- dont know what you are up to, but... I think Torx and Star are the same also. Since there is nut on the other side they are technically "screws". When I decided to mount my zumo on the bars and had to fit a RAM mount... I took an OEM screw to a local nut n' bolt store. We decided how long the new one needed to be and I picked up a matching set of Hex head screws so all would match. Got 'em in Stainless. Easy peasy and cheap. Link to comment
Paul Mihalka
On my R1200GS they are TORX E10 socket. A 8mm standard hex socket may work. Link to comment
johnlt
On the 12RT, it is a T-45 Torx bit. As Paul says, on the GS, it is a Torx socket. Link to comment
Eye
Great information gents. I am going to mount some risers and a RAM ball mount screw. I had seen the term "Star" and wasn't sure if this was a different type of bit or a synonym. Thanks much, Mark Link to comment

I should have paid more attention to my typing. the sentence should read... Since there is NO nut... it is called a screw. Link to comment
