Twisties
Farmington Bay is a waterfowl management area on the southeast shores of The Great Salt Lake. Although the GSL is generally understood to be much more salty than seawater, the waters are by no means uniform. Where rivers flow into the lake bays have formed and these vary from fresh to brackish to salt, and from open water to marsh. Several wildlife areas have been designated in such areas. Farmington Bay in particular is known for it's wintering bald eagles. Although it is the closest of these areas to our house, we had never been to this particular location. Friday afternoon Sharon took off early from work, and it was time for an excursion to Farmington Bay. We saw several eagles, but nothing close enough for a spectacular shot. Nevertheless, we had plenty of photographic subjects to capture our attention. Here are a few of the pictures I made: Link to comment
David13
Birds are definitely interesting characters. I like the hawks; they have a shriek to them that says they are on the kill, and they are interesting to watch in battle. But I think my favorite is the loon. The early morning or late night sound they make is something I'll never forget. I can't imitate the sound but I'll always remember it. Nice photos. dc Link to comment

Rocer
Thanks Jan. Thanks Sharon. We enjoyed these. We had a family of Ospreys fishing our lake two summers ago. It was an amazing site to watch them and to hear the adults getting noisy to celebrate their off spring's catch. This past summer I had the unique experience of what I believe to be one of the off spring returning to our lake, catch a fish and land on a tree branch in front of me to eat his catch. I must remember to carry a camera. We miss birds around our house as they know enough to stay away from our cats. Again, thanks for the pics. P&K Link to comment
