eddd
International all-wheel drive with Allison auto, 2,500 gallon stainless steel tank, 26hp diesel-powered pump, pump-and-roll, 10" Newton dump valve. It is a replacement for our 2000 Sterling, pictured here when it was new. Link to comment
Paul Mihalka
Nice, but what can it do better than the old one, or was it worn out? Link to comment
eddd
Pretty much the same job, just trying to stay ahead of the curve on maintenance and repairs. These trucks are subject to severe use, and it takes it toll. The other difference is this truck has an automatic, whereas the other was a manual. Some people are not comfortable with standard transmissions found in these large trucks. There is already enough stress when you are awaken at 2:00 AM to respond to a structure fire in the rural area. The auto just gives the driver one less thing to worry about. Link to comment
eddd
It is used for brush/grass fires, and as water supply. Keep in mind that we are in a delta, just about as flat as land gets. It is a tremedous grass/brush truck. With 2,500 gallon you can knock down some really long fire lines. Link to comment
