APDDave
I had a similiar problem with the clutch switch. I was told by the dealer that there was a piece on the clutch lever itself that engages the switch, it had worn down so that it would alow the bike to start in gear sometimes. They replaced the clutch lever and not the switch, it seemed to have fixed the problem. Link to comment
effexer1
Take the old one to an electronics store and they can match it up. It worked for me. And it only cost a couple dollars. Link to comment
Jim Moore
Clip the wires and wire them together. Cost = free! Link to comment

DallasR1100RT
I already have the side stand wired open...I figure I could use one safety feature.. :-) Link to comment
philbytx
If you have the (correct) habit of righting your bike, checking the sidestand is not down and pulling in your clutch as you start your motor, you don't need any steenkin' switches !! Link to comment
DallasR1100RT
yeahbutt....I start the darn thing while it's on the side stand all the time. Saturday it was 27 degrees when we started out from Ft Hood...I let it sit and warm up a bit while I put on my gloves and helmet. I would hate to be at some bike race and try to start it in gear!
