Whats the overnite parking like there?? Glen- I haven't been there for a few years but at that time there was only a large open parking lot in front. I'd think about bringing a cover for it or park it inside your room if your that worried about your baby being taken. Link to comment
PhillyFlash
Just be glad that I've retired that photo from Cody. (Yeah, we've all heard your excuses, so don't even go there.) another note to those who haven't met me... Howard is has a well documented pathological problem. There is no such incriminating picture!!! This possible candidate is all done with Photoshop: I was studying my map, and that is my story!!! Also, the alcohol in the picture was nowhere near me! The map was upside down, and of Rhode Island. The bottles were moved away from you for our protection. My pathological problems have nothing to do with your psychosis. Well, maybe it does. But that's a story for another time. Link to comment
graydude
Could we please have a tag for Dave Davenport. He will be taking the room formely occupied by Signman. flyingreg
For those joining the Bakersfield group, we will be leaving from the Fastrip mini-mart at 10:30, promptly. Please be a little early so I can have a few minutes to brief the riders on the route. The Fastrip mini-mart is located at: 12851 Rosedale Hwy (corner of Allen Rd. & Rosedale Hwy) Bakersfield, CA 93312 661-588-2799 The group now includes: Tank-Bill JoeG-Joe Shaman97-Bob & Jackie in the chase car Steve Jones bmweerman-Cameron+Patti snc1923-Tom Don Chilton Bryan Buckey RT4ME-Bill Steve Reinig Yours truly If you find yourself running late for some reason, the lunch stop is a place named Bernardio's, located in Inyokern, south side of the road. Sorry, don't have an address, Inyokern is too small to need one. Food is reported by a board member I trust to be an 8 out of 10. If you are not at the meeting spot, and I have not heard from you, I may wait and send the bunch on ahead. Our route will be 100% Hwy 178 (Rosedale Hwy "IS" Hwy 178) all the way to 190 at Pannamint Springs. The ride through the Kern River Canyon is spectacular as is the east end after Lake Isabella. After Trona the road gets fun again all the way to Stovepipe Wells. Total miles to Longstreet is 291 from Bakersfield. We should arrive around 6 p.m. with a 1030 departure. Jackie will have a good time staying pace with us. I am not planning a fast pace, at least not as a group. I will let those that wish to hoon do so, releasing them from the feeling that they must hold back. I will keep a brisk pace though. That about wraps it up. See you on Friday If I missed someone, please ping me with a PM so I don't miss you in the long list of messages here. Here is my contact info. 661-599-3553-cell 661-588-9193-home Link to comment

pdegnan
Gleno, I have asked Joe, and will remind him tomorrow, to block off the south section of the lot for bike only parking. I will also ask if he has a guard who patrols at night, although in my experience they usually sleep more than patrol). The other alternative is to draw lots from among the Las Vegas area attendees to see who among them will sleep in the lot and watch the bikes.. Link to comment

MikesToy
Gleno... Parking at the Longstreet is just a large dirt lot. I'm sure that we can get an area for our bikes next to the entrance if all the early arrivals spread their bikes out around the entrance. That will leave plenty of roon for the folks arriving later. We can ask the hotel to keep an eye in that area. Will that work? Don't know, but it's worth a try. Mike Link to comment
MikesToy
Parking security should be provided by the last one to arrive Jamie..I think I got the changes and additons. Mike Link to comment
flyingreg
Parking at the Longstreet is just a large dirt lot. When we were there scouting the place on our recon trip, the parking lot was paved. I hope they haven't rolled up the asphalt since then. Link to comment
KMG_365
But why would anyone steal a Beemer in the middle of nowhere? Or rather.....why would anyone steal a Beemer at all?? Exactly my point! The nice thing about having a bike that doesn't fetch much on the Vegas black market is not having to worry about it. The tweakers can't get out that far from Vegas and just to make sure no Beemer riders would steal it . . . I put FLOORBOARDS on it!! Link to comment
pdegnan
All: Have spoken to Joe at Longstreet this morning, and they are ready... Parking will be in a roped off section as we enter the lot near the wagon wheel - I don't really recall exactly where that is, but I told him to expect 80 bikes and he said that area would easily hold that many. He also has a shift manager that checks the lot hourly at night, and in addition will let the local sheriffs know so that they patrol the lot more frequently than usual. On a less happy note, he says he is "having trouble" getting Sierra NV PA, and Arrogant Bastard, and his distributor in Pahrump is trying but not sure they will have it Friday. Frankly this sounds like crapola to me, but we are hostage at this point to what he wants to do. It may partly have to do with his distributor being unwilling to deliver less than a pallet load, or being unwilling to take back what we don't drink, and if the minimum order is more than Joe thinks we'll consume, than I can understand his reservations. In addition, we'll not be allowed to bring our own beer to the reception, as he says that is against local liquor laws, and being in that business myself, I am not surprised. There will be no problem, though, of having whatever we want in our rooms, so don't let that deter you from bringing along your favorite beverage. Before we leave I will approach Joe about our next visit, and what we will expect him to do for us if we agree this venue makes sense for future visits. I am sure once he sees how responsible most of ur are and that we do spend money, he'll be a bit more adaptable. Less than 96 hours to lift off Link to comment
1st Shirt
Well, let's see. No Sierra NV PA, No Arrogant Bastard, and No Jamie and the Jetts. If I was a pessimist I would say things are looking down. But let's look at the other side of the coin. Riding the RT somewhere other than Sierra Vista to Tombstone to Bisbee and back to Sierra Vista. Getting to see Death Valley one more time before Sun-joo and I head east. Getting to see some old friends and meet some new ones. And having Sun-joo say over the intercom "Oh, it's so nice and toasty" as the Gerbings heats up. Priceless. So to hell with the Bastards (the brew type). I know we'll have a great time no matter what they serve. p.s. And even though there's no official Karoake - if the band plays a song I know I'm singing!!! Link to comment

Tank-Bill JoeG-Joe Shaman97-Bob & Jackie in the chase car Steve Jones bmweerman-Cameron+Patti snc1923-Tom Don Chilton Bryan Buckey RT4ME-Bill Steve Reinig Traveler1-Thor Jerry Timmer Yours truly I have located a Motel 6 that is 6.8 miles from the meeting spot - Fastrip mini-mart at Rosedale Hwy/Allen Rd. It is any easy ride from where we are meeting and there really isn't nothiing else closer that is reasonable, unless you want to spend big bucks. Here is the link to the Motel 6. http://tinyurl.com/ay5kf If you make your reservations online the internet price is only $35.99 plus applicable taxes. You will need to make your own reservations. I hope this helps the group find lodging, sorry I didn't get this together sooner, but we are the "UN" riders, right? I am also planning a dinner Thursday night at the California Pizza Kitchen for 6 p.m. I have made reservations. This is a great establishment, great food, great service, I gaurantee it. If not, my son-in-law who manages the restaurant, will be on the outs otherwise. I do need a head count by Wednesday for the reservation, so please let me know via PM. This will be a great time to get acquainted, so I hope as many of you can attend. Please RSVP. The CPK is located at 10150 Stockdale Hwy. and is an easy find from the Motel 6. Reservations are set for 6 p.m. That about does it for now! WOO-HOO, this is going to be a great weekend! Link to comment

Laney
I am backing out at this late hour...sad to say. That's not exactly fair, Eric. On the other hand, with a newly available room, does this mean nobody has to draw straws to see which unlucky rider gets stuck with the Monkey as a roomate for Saturday? flyingreg
Just returned home from our dinner gathering in Bakersfield, there were 13 in attendance, including yours truly. We had a great time getting acquainted and re-acquainted. Cameron's RT is still not in one piece so he and Patti weren't there. Patti is feeling ill, so they may not make DVD until Saturday. Say a prayer for her and for Cameron getting the bike put together. Cameron is a stubborn one, he wants to do this on his own. Gotta hand it to him, hope he pulls it off. So, we are off tomorrow morning, about 17 riders! See you all at DVD. Link to comment
