Fuel System Question

My '04 Rt has been sitting since November '08. Gas tank was removed and emptied. I am now ready to re-install gas tank and put her back on the road. Considering there is residual fuel in the fuel injection system - is there a way to purge it to get fresh gas into the fuel lines and injection system?

Thanks for your help.

I would just remove the clip from the top of the injector, pull the hose and let it drain a bit from there. You can set a bucket under it and turn the key to charge the system and it will flush for sure. Also, you might want to remove the two allen bolts securing the injector, pull it and check the spray pattern after you reconnect. (no open flames,,,, duh!)

I just noticed you were from Basking Ridge,,,,, I spent 12 years in Berkeley Heights (69-81). I sure miss the "Italian Hot-dogs" and "Real Pizza".

The boxer FI system is a continuous circulation type with a return line from the regulator to the tank. Andy residual old fuel in the system, apart form the short line from the regulator to the injectors, is going to quickly circulate back into the tank and be diluted in with the new fuel at first crank over.

In short I’d say don’t worry about it and crank ‘er up.
