1) The seat is painful after 30 mins.

2) There are no curves in South FL so the beautiful handling capabilites of the RT will be wasted :-D

Drawbacks? Well, yes. It is rather pricey, the dealer network is not very extensive, and it is lousy off-road.

Tell us a little more about your riding background, what bike you are riding now, what kind of riding do you anticipate doing (touring, track days, 2-up, commuting, round-the-world, circus stunts...?), and what you are looking for in your next motorycle.

And welcome to the SportTouring site! We're here to help.

I guess I am lucky, or perhaps have a "dead butt", but both my last RT and the new one have a decent enough seat that I don't feel the need to replace them. Now I do squirm around a bit in the saddle, especially after 3-4 hours, but I need to do that anyway to keep from getting cramps and stiff. My arse is 63 yrs old, and it doesn't like to be kept in one position too long.....hence the squirming, standing up on the pegs, etc.

I hope my fanny continues to like the stock seat, as an upgrade is a very expensive proposition.

And I do agree with you on your second item above!

To OzoneWanderer, re: Florida not having curves? Well Panama City has a lot of curves! lol

But the trick is to double your speed in what passes for curves and the thrill is back!

At 70 yrs young, I am afflicted with the Old Fat Syndrome where my butt is not as resilient as it was many years ago. Thus I believe, no seat will really give me long term comfort but stopping to smell the roses is as much a part of the experience as the ride.

JMHO

So my advice, if you want it and can afford it, go with the RT.
