Elvie
Hello. New to the BMW world - the Honda ST1300 has been sold. Just breaking in the bike and loving it. I am looking for a service manual. Have found info referencing rep rom but have not been able to uncover a manual through online searches and sites. Does anyone have a link to a shop manual for the 2010 R1200RT model? Thanks. SageRider
RepROM is the BMW shop manual on CD, available from your BMW dealer. Just let the dealer know what model/year bike you have. I am not aware of the shop manual being available in paper form, however it is easy to print the pages you need from theRepROM CD. Link to comment
tsp
What is the cost of the CD manual? Want to hear from you guys before I call the dealer. Does the manual cover the maintenance schedule? I want to know what gets done at the 6,000 and 12,000 mile service. I don't mind doing my own oil changes (all three oils) but do want the dealer to do valves and other complex stuff. tsp 2010 R1200RT PS: No hijack intended... Link to comment

As for the maintenance schedules, you should just ask your dealer to print them off for you. While some dealers have maintenance schedules available on their websites, they tend to be somewhat out of date (and they do change from time to time). Link to comment
SageRider
SierraBMW.com seems to be about $110 for the R1200-RT ( goto http://www.sierrabmwonline.com/index.php then search for manual.) Do you think your dealer is going to inflate the price on you or something??? Maintenance schedule is included, but I would also get the dealer to print out a set for you just to maximize the chances of you getting the most recent version. Link to comment
tsp
I don't like that I got a ride to my dealer 300 miles away to pick up my new bike only to find that the dealer charged an extra $300 for PDI (pre delivery inspection) when the cost already has a $300 fee for pre delivery setup as part of the msrp. I was never told about this fee... I happen to see it when I was signing the papers. Do other dealers charge for PDI? And yes, I know that they can charge whatever they want to charge. I rode some hill country area (good for break in) and then home putting a total of about 400 miles on the bike. When I got home I checked the tire pressure and I had 50psi front and 55psi rear. So... what exactly did I get for the extra $300 if not even the tp was checked. Btw, I was told by the service manager that the bikes are shipped that way and they forgot to check it. So to answer your question... No, I don't trust my dealer but I surely wish that changes. I am trying to work with them since he's my closest dealer yet 300 miles away. And yes, I am one of those OCD type of guys. I am still wondering why my new 2010 RT has a plastic valve cap on the front tire and a metal one on the rear. Off soap box, tsp 2010 R1200RT which requireed the 600 mile service by riding home and back to the dealer. Do you think your dealer is going to inflate the price on you or something??? SageRider
Sucks not trusting one's dealer.... Come on out to northern Nevada... Sierra BMW won't treat you bad. (Plenty of vacant housing, and no hurricanes! ) "I am still wondering why my new 2010 RT has a plastic valve cap on the front tire and a metal one on the rear." Must be due to the metal valve stem on the front and the plastic (rubber) valvestem on the rear... Link to comment
tsp
Hey! Is that correct? Or should the metal cap be on the metal stem? I NEED to know! tsp Sucks not trusting one's dealer.... Elvie
Regarding the valve stem covers - my new bike has both plastic, black front and grey back. Is there an OEM spec for this? Regarding the original high tire pressure - I was told the tires are overinflated for shipping to prevent tire flat spotting. TPS showed this via idiot light during my test ride in the dealer's locale. Thanks for the manual info - I will probably obtain despite the price. I was really hoping for a 3rd party manual but it is probably too soon. Elvie Link to comment
Highway41
Hi tsp and welcome Elvie. Mine also came with a plastic cap on the front and metal on the rear. Fixed that first night with an o-ring metal cap. Bill Link to comment

Elvie So does this imply that I should overinflate my tires when I store it for the winter? 50+ lbs is a lot - I would never have guessed to put that much in... Link to comment
CoarsegoldKid
Regarding the original high tire pressure - I was told the tires are overinflated for shipping to prevent tire flat spotting. Elvie That's a new one on me. Dealers often miss lots of things. A friend's Guzzi was missing trans oil. None. Some important bolts were not torqued either. Dealer could care less too and denied it. Back to the manual see the dealer as you have already heard or order one from some other dealer and they can all send it to you. Link to comment
