Steve1962
Well , The little champ is settled in fine now , proof of which occurred on Friday morn ........ ............So there I was , penning an e mail to the wife [ day off for me , she was at work ] ..............sat at the pc ,with a cuppa and a Hot Cross Bun , Jake lying at my feet .............the mobile rang , it was sitting on the arm of the chair behind me [ that's MY CHAIR by the way ] ........turned round but couldn't reach it , so got up to walk the three steps that it took to reach the mobile , answered it as I was turning around ...............and there was Jake , eyes wide open , sat there wagging his tail , WITH MY HOT CROSS BUN IN HIS MOUTH ............. Bless him ....................or something like that Steve Link to comment

Steve1962
Steve, that is brilliant! Marty , He's a barrel of laughs , so full of character !! The question is: did he share it with you? He reluctantly let go of it when commanded - not a bite taken out of it , but it was rather soggy .so I took him out into the garden , and broke it up into smaller pieces .......and then let him eat it . The bun would be stale anyway - Easter was months ago Don't need to be Easter to have Hot Cross buns in our house - one of the boys likes them ........... with ham and grated cheese as a filling !!! Maybe you and Jake need to get in on this.. http://www.caldogtravel.com/Pages/WJake.htm#Top Jake has his own adventures every day at home , and twice a day he terrorises the local pheasant population in the field close to home where we walk him !! These dogs are so smart [ far too clever for their own good ] , but I have to say that Jake is very good overall - once he's told not to do something , he doesn't do it again .... We won't be leaving any food unattended again though !! Steve Link to comment

elkroeger
the only question is - why hadn't he swallered it yet? My old buddy Murph yoiked a 1.0 lb New York steak off the counter while I stepped out to check the coals. I can only deduce that he took it, as there was no evidence beyond its peculiar absence. He was back on his bed playing 'possum. Didn't even have the decency to have a guilty look on his face.... I sure miss the old boy. Link to comment
