ahirsch
Hi everyone, The nylon disk inside the unit has chewed up gears and the speedo does not work. I understand that I can not purchase just the nylon piece, is this still correct? Where is a good source for speedo drive units? Thanks. Andrew Link to comment

It's pretty unusual. Andy Link to comment
flars
Actually, I have had two of them get chewed up. It could be caused by having to fight a bad cable maybe, but that doesn't seem too plausible. Link to comment
AndyS
Would a bit of grit - say when the wheel was being fitted - cause this sort of problem? I guess as soon as something jams between the gears, the teeth have to go. Andy Link to comment
ahirsch
It did happen about 200 miles after I changed tires. maybe I didn't hook the drive unit up correctly? I also need to see if the cable is running smoothly. I'll check beemer bobeyard. thanks, Andrew Link to comment
