Dietrich
Ok, ok, I know this is an oldie. However I have been tinkering with this 1962 R27 and ran in to a problem with the pushrod tube seals. These seals are between the tubes coming down from the cylinder and the bigger tubes up from the engine block. The manual states that the tubes should be adjusted so that the rubber seal gets squashed by 1 mm. Did that now and so far so good but the difference in adjustments was so minimal that I can't see it making a difference. 2 sets have cracked open so far. Any ideas? Or do you have had similar issues. any advice would be appreciated. Link to comment
StuGotz
Pushrod seals are a problem on older bikes. In 32 years, I have done mine 3 times (74 R90S). Rubber gets hard with age. And if ya don't ride the bike often, you'll find it happens sooner. Only way for the ultimate fix is replacement of the rubbers.. Sometimes seating the pushrod rubbers further creates more of a problem than you had beforehand. Unless you can live with oil on your boots and the ground. Good luck with that R27. Keep 'er runnin'..
