Losing patience with DirecTV loss of signal

We've had a series of T-storms this summer and (like now), we lose signal for 5-15 minutes. Judging from conditions, it appears the signal loss occurs when the storms have the highest cloud tops.

I had that same problem for several years. One day I had to go outside while it was storming and just happen to notice that a large branch from a nearby tree was drooping right in the line of site of the receiver. It was not in the way when it was not soaked. The next day I removed the limb and the problem was gone.

Sue the weatherman, he should schedule storms for the wee hours while you are asleep.

And miss the Joan Rivers Collection on HSN? Bite your tongue, Sir Robert!

We've lost signal each time a storm front rolls through accompanied by heavy rain and/or electrical activity though I think it's related to the heavy cloud cover. We have a DVR in great room and I have a non-HD unit in my office. Usually, I'll lose the signal in the office b4 the HD unit loses it, but only by a minute or so.

If DirecTv went to a perforated dish, the problems wouldn't be as bad.

If they go to a perforated dish won't the signal leak out?

Sorry I had to go there, I have to trim back trees every couple of years to keep from losing signal in bed weather.

"bed weather" that's not a problem here.

DirecTV was out again during morning storms. BTW, we're getting hammered here with rain. Not as bad as Nashville, but bad none the less.
