R1150RT twin spark - reading Motronic fault codes for dummies!

Can you guys tell me in VERY simple terms how to check my system (which I believe to be 2.4) for faults.

Is it possible to use basic gear like multimeters?

If it is similar to the older 1100 series I believe you get dips on the meter readback. If so, what do these relate to on this system.

Sorry Andy, the 1150 uses a digital data stream for fault codes so the only DIY method is to use a GS911.
