Selden
I couldn't find any specific references to experiences with this bulb, so I'm opening a new thread. Is anybody using this bulb in an R1100RT? Description here. As always, the world's greatest headlight bulb, slices bread, zips your fly, etc. Link to comment

philbytx
Selden, I installed them (H4) in my R1100R (hi/lo) and also a Philips (H7) as the low beam in my R1150RT. In both cases the improvement was quite noticeable over stock !! Link to comment
Paul Mihalka
On all my previous bikes that used H4, including the R1100RT, I always used the 80/100 wattage bulbs. They are readily available. never had a wiring overload problem. Link to comment
SKYGZR
Have been running 90/130 or 100/130 H4's in each machine without wiring issues. the brighter the better..hell with "off road use only""..if you DON'T use the brightest you can get, you'll probably wind up OFF ROAD. Link to comment
twowheelsonly
I installed a 55/60 watt HID system on my 1100rt, works very good, excellent illumination after adjusting the headlight so it was aimed correctly, I used the 4300K bulb which is the same temp as the BMW, Lexus, Infiniti use on their cars. If you decide to install one, remember to leave the 3 lug plug for the old headlight bulb close to the bottom of the headlight so if the HID system stops working you can plug it from the adapter and reinstall it in the old halogen and be on the road in a couple of minutes.. IMO HID is much brighter/clearer than any 80-100 watt halogen bulb I have used in the past.. I have no drivers flashing their lights at me which I used to get on the low 80 watt halogen.. If you blind someone you may end up in the ditch which is not a good thing for your bike and especially for you.. Ride safe! Link to comment
Selden
I had no idea HID prices had fallen so far. Estimated installation effort for an R1100RT? I assume that the bodywork, including the instrument panel cover, has to come off, but that a wire can be run to the battery without pulling the gas tank. Link to comment
cruisin
I tried them about 7 years ago on my RT and found that the filament broke rather quickly--just a few weeks. I then tried the 9003 marked "Motorcycle/ATV", it lasted only about 6 months. I went back to the PIAA after that. Link to comment

Aimed correctly, this isn't an issue. I have (3) auxiliary lights also. Even with these on, no issues. It's all in the aiming. Link to comment
