redzonerich
Have an 1100RT and am considering purchasing a driver's footpeg lowering kit from Suburban Machinery. My understanding is that the brake pedal linkage to the master cylinder must be shortened (cut?) to maintain proper free play, which is a concern. Has anyone got experience with this install? Is it a big deal? Link to comment
Jerry Duke
I believe the linkage is threaded so adjustment should be easy. You might have to play with it to get it exactly right. Link to comment
Ian
My lowering kits front and rear were bought from BMW approved supplier Verholen in Germany. Front kit came with new gearchange lever and a metal sheath to go over the the rar brake pedal. Perfect fit and same quality as BMW. See: http://www.bmwrt.com/faq/pegsrests.htm You can scrape the ground with the pegs if you are leaned over but apart from the noise this is no big deal. regards, Ian Link to comment
NORMBATES
Howdy - I recently added the Suburban kit (used off ebay $50) to my R1150RT - same application - I also bought, used, an extra shift lever and brake pedal - both of which I modified to match the new peg positions - had a welder/fabricator friend do the shift lever by cutting and adding a short piece to move the lever shift peg forward and down - for the brake pedal I removed the peg (hack sawed) and fashioned a piece of aluminum to reposition the peg, then re-attached it to the pedal with a couple bolts - without the shift lever and brake pedal mods, I found myself reaching and searching at gear changes and brake applications - though the moves were well worth it as I'm short of leg, keep my seat in the lowest position and the original positioning was cramping my battered and aging hip joints - I'm extremely pleased with the mods. - Norm Link to comment

Mrs. Caddis
We installed the Suburban foot lowering kit on my 1100RT. It actually made the position of the shift and brake easier for me, so I never modified anything else. Link to comment
Eckhard Grohe
I have a Verholen kit on the bike to relieve some hip pain. It works. Link to comment
