Supplemental Tail Lights - RT Help with install please

I am in the UK and have just imported (at massive cost!) the BMW supplemental brake light kit from Sierra. It arrived with just a light filling and harness. There were no instructions and no fixings other than a few cable ties. Is this normal? I can probably work out how to mount and connect the device but want it to be right. Can some kind soul point me to some instructions or pictures of how others have carried out this installation?

Thanks

This is amazing - mine arrived with no instructions either. Call the selling dealer and they'll send you a scanned copy.

Me either, I guess they want the dealer to install.

Be sure you have the model specific harness. Plugs into the rear accessory socket (well not exactly the socket but the connector under the seat) with the trigger wire piggy-backing a tail/brake light wire. Don't remember the color but I'm pretty sure it's not brown, they save that color for grounds.

I just installed the supplemental tailight on my new 09 RT and being the analytical type took the long way to hard the wiring. I looked under the inner fender and found a round area that hung down and looked perfect to wires into the area under the rear seat. I removed the license plate bracket and found a raised area that is to the right of the screws that hold the bracket to the fender. It was a straight shot from on area to the other to run the wires. Went to Home depot and purchased a 1/2 spade bit and some rubber grommets to run the wires through. Drilled the hole through the rear fender and cleaned up the hole to install the grommet and then removed the rear seat and did the same at the area where the round area enters the under seat area, I then took the BMW harness and disassembled the large female connector housing to minimize its size. It is a simple thing, just push the little plastic button. Carefully remove the connector and be careful with the now exposed pins. Carefully thread each wire through the rubber grommet and leave about two inches remaining. Carefully thread the harness with grommet through the hole in thefender and the with a little screwdriver work the grommet into the drilled hole until it is properly seated on both sides of the fender. Continue by threading the harness into the hole you drilled into the inner fender. From under the seatwork the other grommet onto the harness in the sake manner as you did the 1st one and again work to seat it in the inner fender. Run the harness forward and under the seeat latch mount on the frame and over to the area where the the connectors are for the rear power outlet. Reinstall the female connector onto the BMW harness. Seperate the stock connector and plug in the new light harness into both sides. Remove the rear tailight with the 2 screws and run the remaining wire to the left side bulb, Remove the black wire connector and connect both wires together and plug back into the bulb. Reinstall the tailight. Loosely install the LED supplemental light onto the rear fender and carefully pull the slack to clean up the wiring. I drilled a 1/8 inch hole in the support web inside the fender and installed a zip tie to hold the harness through the fender. Work the rest of the slack under the seat and secure to the right side frame tube with a zip tie. I then put 2 flat washers onder the lower two license plate screws to give a little more room between the harness and bracket. Tighten up the license plate screws. Start the bike up and check its operation. You are all done. This took me about a half hour, but i did study it for a while to figure out how I wanted to install it. Hope that helps someone.
