Rampant
There are a few around here for sale, with 17-33k miles on them. Worth getting? They are 2004 models and they are asking 7-8k. What sort of price can I reasonably negotiate them down to? anything I should look for to make sure I get a good one? May also look at a 2000 R1100R Link to comment
The "L" man
I recently purchased (2) of that same year and model. One with 20K and one with 23k. I paid thousands less. 7-8K is the very top of the spectrum. Link to comment
upflying
Police bikes are not worth as much as civilian models. A nice round figure of $2,000 less than a comparable RT. Lots depends on how they were maintained, what agency owned them and how they were used. hit and miss to find a good one. Link to comment
Rampant
ok, they sold the one with 17k, but they have some highway patrol ones at a different BMW dealership for me to look at. Link to comment
notacop
I bought a 2001RTP at Long Beach in 2005 with 63K on the clock. $7020 out the door T&L. Was CHP bike. I rode it another 63K and only changed the alternator belt and the HES. Most excellent touring bike. The radio box can be open out to the fender and makes a perfect trunk. Only down side, too heavy for a little sh-t like me so I down sized. They sitll gave me $1000 with 123K on the bike as a trade in. It was well worn by the time I got rid of it. An 1150 with 30K miles sis like a new bike...BMW wise... Link to comment
Swordofwords
I bought my 2000 (Ebay) 2050 + 650 shipping. It is a Sacramento PD machine. I stole that bike at that price. It is missing the bolt on the from wheel fender, battery need charging a bit, and the spare battery is gon, but I'm talking myself into putting another in. I'd love to know the history of it, as it give the bike some additional character, but that is me. There was/is a 2001 in Laramie Wy that has luggage, nice looking for about $3K, FWIW. Municipalities usually have a good scheduled maintenance program, and other that the expected wear a person who had to stop so many times to give US a ticket...okay, okay; THEM, it is getting a really great deal on a wonderful machine!
