Centech installation problem R1200RT 07

Need HELP please. I installed the Centech fuse panel/AP-170R power relay/ Euro Can-bus adaptor to my R1200RT 07 on last thursday per directions. Used the front parking light for power-on & power-off connection. Added accessories Autocom Pro7/ Hyperlites/ XM radio/ Motolites/ & cigarette outlet all running into fuse panel. I should make mention, before installing all the above accessories my bike ran great and had no problems at all. Since installation, the bike will not stay on when turning the ignition, first the red caution light then yellow caution light comes on & goes off. It is running very rough as though a spark plug is disconnected( never touch or removed plugs). The only way it will stay running is that I have to turn the throttle in halfway position. I'm dumbfounded to what I have done or what is the problem. Does anyone know what is the problem? The bike has been sitting in my garage not moved since installation. Please HELP!!!

Alex, disconnect all accessories but leave the trigger line and see if that works. If not, disconnect the trigger. Does that fix it. You can try connecting one accessory at a time to troubleshoot but my guess is that it is not the centech. Possibly you did or undid something else during the install.

could you have dislodged a throttle cable from it's seat?

Not on the R1200xx series.

Alex – Did you have the key on a lot when you were hooking up and testing the fuse block and accessories? This could be as simple as a low battery. Put a charger on it over night then see what happens.

I can't imagine this being the problem, but it is not going to hurt.

I am certain that you must have disconnected the battery. Did you calibrate the throttle position sensor after you reconnected it?

(Turn ignition on, then immediately twist the throttle through it full range, 3 times. Check the manual, I believe that 3 is the magic number).

No RideOregon, I did not dislodged the throttle cable. Never removed any cables or connectors.

Did you move or remove the fuel tank to run wires? Are the fuel pump wires and lines solidly connected?

No cpallen, I did not have to remove the fuel tank. there was enough space for me to run the wires with no problems. I will check however the lines to see if they are connected solidly.

Yes pmurphy, I did disconnect the battery as you stated. I did not know about calibrating the throttle position sensor. I will try what you mention and see if that works.

Ok johnlt, I try your suggestion and see if that works.

Yes Ken H, I did have the ignition on and off throughout the time I was checking the fuel panel. I will try your suggestion.

do you wait for the "self-test" before twisting the throttle, or do you turn on the ignition and twist the throttle while the self-test is happening?

Quoting from the RepROM

Connect the positive lead to the battery's positive terminal (4).

Install protective cap (3).

Connect the negative lead to the battery's negative terminal (1), making sure that the connecting cable is routed correctly.

Switch on the ignition.

Without starting the engine, fully open the throttle once or twice so that the control unit of the BMW engine management system can register the throttle-valve positions.

Switch off the ignition.

To all, Woo hoo I fixed the problem. I owe thanks to all the suggestions and ideals voiced throughout this tread, however I want to especially thank Pmurphy for(did you disconnect the battery? must recalibrate throttle), RideOregon for(did you dislodged throttle cable), and johnlt for(disconnect all accessories and trouble shoot each one). With the above stated suggestions I was able to find my problem. 1. I accidently had bent the throttle cable at the entrance to engine. 2. By taking the battery cables off I needed to re-calibrate the throttle. 3. disconnecting all the accessories one by one and checking them was the key to my effort for trouble shooting. Once again, BMW forum thank you a million. I saved probably $300-$500 or more to have BMW check out the problem and fix it.
