Tire valve stems

Is there anything special about the valve stems for a 1994 R1100RS? Can I get them from any motorcycle dealer or only a BMW dealer? Would it be better to put the metal stems on?

I prefer metal valve stems. They are cheap enough. What prompted me to switch to them was a rather scary story by someone on this board. Search "valve stem failure" to see it. If you have the 3 spoke alloy wheels, you can get the metal stems for the 0.453" rim hole from www.alltiresupply.com/p-44-588.html Sorry I couldn't seem to get a direct link posted. I got the straight stems, part # 44-188. They were $11.09 for a box of 10 plus shipping.

Hmm. Previewing my post it appears I may have gotten the link posted. Anyway, good luck.

I have an 1100 rs did you have to "modify" the rim. Thank you for the link it always amazes me I do a search and nothing comes up or theres just so many items!

On both bikes, I simply use the "stubby" rubber valve stems with metal caps. No issues in thousands of miles of riding.
