HighAngleHell
Happy Easter, I just took my first ride of the year. I was able to try out my new Sargent seat and GSA foot pegs I put on my 2009 R1200 GS. What a difference in comfort. I highly recommend them. I bought my bike new late last summer and it has about 2700 miles on it. I took my last ride last November, filled up the tank to the top, and put the battery tender on it. When I started it up the fuel gauge showed empty, the fuel indicator is flashing, the yellow triangle is lit and the trip computer shows range as 0 miles. I rode long enough to empty the tank and refill but no change. I started it and stopped it a few times in hopes that the gauge would reset itself, no dice. It is still under warranty and I plan on taking it in but does anyone have any thoughts as to why this happened? It was working fine when I put it away. Is it a big fix or do you think the dealer would have the parts to fix it on hand? Thanks, DH Link to comment
Firefight911
Pretty common and well known issue. Your fuel strip is bad. It will need to be replaced, re-calibrated under warranty. I would call your dealer, explain the issue, have them get the parts in and then, once they are in, drop the bike off and have it back in a day. It's not a huge deal but definitely a dealer job to ensure the new strip gets calibrated properly for you. Link to comment
Nice n Easy Rider
My dealer was able to replace my last fuel strip in 75 minutes, while I waited. But since this was my third (and probably others had multiple failures as well) I suspect that they were getting pretty adept at the procedure. It has been working OK for over a year now (knock on wood!). Link to comment
HighAngleHell
Thanks Guys, I suspected that might have been what is was. Other than that the bike has been great. I'm hoping to ride it down to Florida to see my parents at the end of the month. I didn't want this issue to be an irritant. DH Link to comment
