David R
I was riding around town today for work doing stuff. I washed the bike and a couple of times it coughed when I gave it throttle from a stand still (just off idle). I thought it may be still wet so didn't worry. Then on my way to a customer I some how raced a harley from a red light. No problem there... then the bike started coughing and backfiring. The tach was dropping to zero and going back to where it should be. I thought HES wires.... It still ran but only below 4K rpm. Above that it would buck and complain. After I left the customer about a mile down the road it totally quit and would not restart. I figured HES wires and maybe if it cooled off I could get back to my shop (I own a garage). So I let it sit on the side of the road for 10 minutes and tried again. Turned on the key and didn't hear the fuel pump. I thought OK its not the HES. I pulled the seat and checked the fuses. #4 was out of place. I pushed it back in, turned on the key, heard the fuel pump and fired it up. I have ridden 100 miles since with no problems. First I panic, then: Life is good. David Link to comment

David R
This happens to me a lot. It seems every red light is a hole shot. I just go fast enough to stay ahead of them or inch in front, then back off, then inch ahead again. If they think they won, I don't care.. I think its funny. I like watching them. You can hear they are giving it all its got. I have to watch my tach, I can't hear a thing. When the bike sputtered the first time, I thought I hit the rev limiter. Of course we are only going straight. My R75/6 is a closer match. David with big cheesy smile R Link to comment
Bullett
I had some jerk in a flashy, sporty Benz want to race me from the light last year... Sucker! When I looked down and was doing better than a buck (in a 45 ), I backed off. Glad to hear your bike is sorted out. Link to comment

David R
That seems to be the problem with those big v twins. Once I go by them, they keep on trying to beat me. Bullett, I bet you were ahead of him too. David Link to comment
