Moto-Moto
I am trying to do my first valve adjustment and realized that once I was about to take the cover off, my bike is in neutral. I tried to step the gears, but am not sure if it is changing or not. Should I have put the bike in 6th before I got off last time? Link to comment
Boffin
Rock the wheel as you move the gear lever, you will feel it snick into gears. Andy Link to comment
Quinn
All it takes is three hands. Pull in the clutch, rotate the rear wheel while applying upward pressure on shifter. Should hear it click (okay, clunk). Release clutch and see if rear wheel rotates. If it doesn't, you're in second, at least. Repeat previous steps until you figure you're in whatever gear you want to be in. Check it by turning the bike on with the side stand up and without starting to read the display. Hope it works out for you. --- Link to comment
Moto-Moto
Andy, thank you, but if that doesn't work? I hear it hitting something, but no click. I know the click sound becuase I can get it to go in an out of 1st. Link to comment
Moto-Moto
Thank you Quinn and Andy, I got it there. Brain fart, didn't have the clutch in. I may be in over my head!!! Thanks again Link to comment
Joe Frickin' Friday
Clutch shouldn't be needed. If the rear wheel is being moved back and forth through its range of slop with one hand while your other hand applies upward pressure on the shifter, at some point during the wheel's movement things should line up and the gearbox should click into the next gear. Repeat several times to reach top gear. Link to comment
