Satguy
I can't positively identify it.... however, it appears to be a bracket to hold aftermarket engine guard bars. Maybe someone removed the bars and decided not to remove the bracket due to bodywork being in the way? The BMW GSA engine guard bars mount in a similar way. Link to comment
LeftCoastMan
What's this? It appears to be the bracket for the top secret anti-car missile system. I can't believe you found one of them. You can eBay it for at least $20K. Link to comment
Anton Largiader
There's one on each side. It looked like a mounting for engine guards or possibly a skid plate, but I didn't see anything like it in the fiche. They are well-made parts. Link to comment
tallman
Anton, At the risk of sounding lame, did you ask the customer? Could they have removed bars to make it easier on you? Link to comment
SuperG
I would say it was for a lower /highway footpeg. Link to comment
ArthurKnowles
These brackets look very much like the Touratech brackets shown here ... http://bmwsporttouring.com/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=581233&gonew=1#UNREAD Maybe they are the same? Link to comment
Formerly_Capecodbeemer
Hey Anton, Yes they are part of the touratech engine guards, know as a clampplate left and right. And yes they are made well. Link to comment
Anton Largiader
These brackets look very much like the Touratech brackets shown here ... Bingo! Thanks. At the risk of sounding lame, did you ask the customer? Customer had no idea what they were. He bought the bike used; apparently the P.O. (or dealership) removed the bars and left the brackets. tallman
Or damaged the bars and removed them? What good are the bars w/out the mounts? Best wishes. Link to comment
George
They are well-made parts. They can't be OEM fitted items then Link to comment
Anton Largiader
Oh come on... BMW parts finish usually blows the pants off aftermarket junk. The welding on this one is an exception to that, but the rest of it is pretty clunky. Link to comment
