rfc1992
Well, here is to this year having more riding than last. I cleaned the bike and changed the oil. When I noted it in my maintenance log the last change was in May 2009, 304 miles ago. Something about a newborn and soccer for the older boy. This year, in contrast, I shall ride more. I may even try to join in on some of the rides. Have a great day and keep the shiny side up. -RFC- Link to comment

RPG
About the only thing that trumps a good riding season is spending more time with your kids. Those years you never get back. Good for you. RPG Link to comment
motoguy128
I hear you. I've had to choose between 2 wheels with pedals and 2 wheels wiht a motor. I look at the 20lbs I gained during my wife's pregnancy and our daughters first year and opted for the pedal bike. Going from working out 6-10 hours and week ot 3-5 hours per week has a negative impact on the waist line. It always seems to take 6 months or so to adjust the eating habits and get a new routine, but the damage is done. My wife and I still ride 2-up just to "get away" now and then. On a nice warm weekend, call 'nana to watch the kid, hop on the bike and take off for a few hours and we have a small vaction planned for June. But whoever said you never can spend enough time with you children was right. Well, except when the poopy diapers... especailly where it doesn't all fit in the diaper. I suppose there's a sense of accomplishment even in that task. At least BMW's last a long time. I look at all the R1100s and R1150's out there and figure even if I'm not riding a lot now, I'll still have a great bike to enjoy 8 or 10 years from now. Link to comment

rfc1992
No doubt. Love spending time with the kids. Older son will join me on rides this year. Work has been a major intrusion on both family and motorcycling. Altering priorities to rectify. It seems I'm not the only one with an idle bike. Oh well... It is VERY clean and will last a long time. Link to comment

Well at least you only have one bike sitting idle! I've got three! After a great start in 2009 with a trip for work to the NE, I put 4,000 miles on the RT. Then in May, had the wreck and the bike spent two months in the shop. Here it is March and I've got a measly 8,000 on the RT. I bought the Buell 1125CR in October, and it has just north of 1200 miles on it. The only bike seeing any real miles is my daily commuter; the Buell Ulysses, which has 16K on it. I simply haven't had the time to tour or do any weekend rides between family commitments and work. And to think, my '04 RT had over 60K miles on it when I sold it. As others have said though, enjoy the family first. Link to comment

But any riding is good riding, even to the hardware store. Link to comment
