BeniciaRT_GT
So Jacqueline and I have been saying we need to go for a good ride for a few months, but weather and particularly my schedule, haven't cooperated until this weekend. In celebration of the first day of spring we did our usual sort of heavy planning: "Anywhere you wanna go?" "I dunno, nothing pops in my head. Anywhere you wanna go?" "nahhh, not really." So finally we took off Saturday morning and decided we would go "That way." (We both love rides like that and have found that they are almost always the best ride!) We thought that if we could get up to Mt. Lassen Volcanic NP, that would be fine. But again, the destination was The Ride... So over all the two day ride was only about 600 miles or so, but one of the top rides I've ever done. Saturday took us 8 hours to get to a place that is only 2 hours away on the slab... If I get time I'll give a much better "tail" but here are a few teasers from an amazing weekend. (I am already working on a video to be posted soon...) There was a whole lotta love on this trip: Link to comment
BeniciaRT_GT
BTW, here is the route... If your feeling no need for speed, I highly recommend the part north of Lake Berryessa. The GT did okay, but a long suspension travel bike would be best with many of the road surfaces you'll find... Link to comment
Francois_Dumas
Great teaser, that's for sure ! We are planning coming over this year... might well try that route for ourselves maybe *grin*. Link to comment
RichEdwards
Nice. You certainly have some excellent choices for riding routes. Link to comment
Paul_Burkett
That looks like a great ride. That pic of Jacqueline crossing the water is beautiful. Link to comment
Highway41
Lot different than south jawja. Wonderful country. Link to comment
skinny_tom (aka boney)
Berryessa-Knoxville Rd rocks! Borrow the KTM next time! I can't believe you rode Elk Creek Road on the GT! Animals! The both of ya! Don't let google maps fool you either. Alder Springs Road (Forest Highway 7 aka 162 isn't paved all the way to Covelo either.) Link to comment
BeniciaRT_GT
I had a good time making it, let me know what Y'all think?!?!?!? Link to comment

Crazy_Canuck
Hey Richard why is it that you dont have any pictures of the left side of your bike?? Doh! Did you ever get the fairing fixed? Link to comment
BeniciaRT_GT
Hey Richard why is it that you dont have any pictures of the left side of your bike?? Doh! Because I'm not a good rider like you? There are several shots of the left side of the bike, however I do tend to take pictures of the right side, more because of the sidestand lean being away form you (I like the angle better) than the scraped bag. If I was that externally driven I'd wash the bike once in a while and probably would have fixed it sooner... Did you ever get the fairing fixed? Everything but the saddlebag is good, and I've had a new lid for about a year and a half, but just haven't bothered to get it painted. I'm glad you enjoyed the pics/video, I guess? Link to comment
eddd
Thanks for sharing. I really enjoyed that picture of Jacqueline hugging you. Link to comment
bmwdave152
I love the Leesville/Lodega road!! Link to comment
notacop
Yah, sur and that's only a few of the roads in the area. Scarry good sight seeing country. Great in the spring when everything is green and flowery. Kinda sucky in July when the central valley will melt your brain. Very nice pictures. Link to comment
Kathy R
Richard, I just love the way you love J. The video and photos were really nice. Great to "be" there. Thanks for sharing!! But, you forgot to give the cows credit for their part in the film Link to comment

tallman
You trying to start a global warming debate? Looks like a great time, wish we were there. Link to comment
trailbuster530
I love those rides. Do that pretty often and where I live you never know where you might end up. I have been on several dirt fire roads and not once did the RT hesitate. My kids love getting on when Daddy has an idea to just go for a ride. Link to comment
