RPG
Just replaced the front Dunlop Roadsmart on my RT. Odometer shows I got 8k miles until the wear bars said, "get off this thing"! Still running the Roadsmart Rear and it looks like it will go another 4k. Most impressed with the lack of noise on these tires. There just isn't any at any lean angle. Totally quiet and unobtrusive. More than I can say for the Metzeler's I used to run. These stick like glue and appear rock solid in the rain. One gotcha in the advertising is that only the rear is dual compound as I was curious why the front went befor the rear. Never had that happen before on a Boxer. No complaints so a new Dunlop goes back on. Link to comment
SikDMAX
Sounds great! I just installed a set of them on my new 1100RTP and they feel excellent. Link to comment
realshelby
I too had to replace the front Roadsmart long before the rear. The rear Roadsmart was one of the better tires I have used on the RT. Link to comment
notacop
Tires are funny things. I used 020's and 021's on the RTP and got fairly consistant milage. 6 to 8K. Bout the same on my 800ST and tried Perilli Stradas and got 10k Rear and 12k Front. Great I thought. Put the second set on and glory to bad milage in the lowest, the rear is wear barred at 5K. Oh shucky darn I'se p-ssed. Think I'll try Pilot roars and hope for the best. Msybe I should try Kenda's. Can't be worse than what I got now! Good luck wuth whatever you ride on! Link to comment
Danny caddyshack Noonan
I'm getting ready to swap out my front after 8k. The right side of it has another 4-5k left in though. Boxer + Sierra roads I guess. Second rear after a big flippin nail so no mileage comparison there. Link to comment
Traveler
I got 8K out of both. The center of the rear did fine, but the sides were worn out. They were very quiet tires that wore very evenly and had zero cupping. I was pleased except could have used a few more miles out of them. Can't complain about the price however. Right now I am on a set of Z6's and am happy after about 3K miles. Link to comment
topdal46
I have the Dunlop RoadSmarts on my Kawasaki ZZR1200, 5,000 miles so far, and no problems, still round, still holding air, and still have tread left, enough to keep me happy. Link to comment
bikerscooby
I agree, the Dunlop RoadSmart is a good rear tire; mine is at 11k and just about hitting the wear indicators and I plan to replace it soon with another RoadSmart (2002 R1150RTP). But don't use RoadSmart for the front... I had to replace that one at I think under 5k, and currently have a Pilot Road 2 on there which is still doing well. Link to comment
redzonerich
I'm very interested to hear these comments about the Dunlop Roadsmart front tire not holding up as well as the rear tire. Like Bikerscooby, I'm running a Roadsmart on the rear (3k) and a Michelin PR-2 on the front (5k). An unfortunate encounter with roofing nails prematurely put an end to the Michelin PR-2 that was originally on the rear. However, I'm very pleased with both the Dunlop's and the Michelin's performance. I just don't like the Michelin's price. Link to comment
Mr. Frank
Front tires seem to take a beating with BMW's. I really liked the Roadsmart rear but the front wore faster. It was also a little more sensitive than I like. I've gone back to the original Pilot Roads a couple of times. Link to comment
georgeb
I also only got about 5,000 miles on my front roadsmart. Again, like the others, the rear dual compound is still going strong. Just put on another roadsmart front so I'll have to see what happens. Link to comment
