Richard_D
I'll be driving a car from Fl. to N.Y. I havn't done this in 15 years. What by-passes do I take off 95 ? 295, 495, ? Link to comment
RichEdwards
Depends on how much time you have to take the trip. I-95 all the way is the fastest. You could take the coastal route and head over toward New Bern, NC and take the NC Ferry route up to Cape Hatteras, then thru Virginia Beach to the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel and the Delmarva peninsula toward Dover, Delaware. Then on to the NJ Turnpike. Or head inland to pick up I-81 and divert over to the Blue Ridge Parkway, then back on I-81 to I-80 and into NY. If you choose I-95 and the loops around DC and Baltimore, hit those areas before 6 a.m. or after 8 p.m. Noon is better too, better than any time close to commuter time. Weekends are a bit better. If the traffic is light, straight thru on I-95 is better than any of the loop-arounds. Link to comment
