AdventurePoser
Hey Everybody... Hmmmmm....rotten econonmy, the Flame gets a pink slip from school, and my job is eliminated for next year. So after careful analysis, and some level headed decision making, we decided on a the best course for us. And that would be to buy a new motorcycle! So, on Saturday, J and I will pick up a new to us 02 R1150 GSA! We are looking forward to expanding our riding experiences, by getttin off the asphalt a bit. We're pretty excited! The Big Pig is plenty powerful, comfortable to ride, and is completely farkelized. Pics to follow... Cheers, Steve Link to comment
roadscholar
Brilliant decision. And an excellent choice in bikes too, yeah a pig it is but slow 'er down a little and it'll take you almost anywhere, the original and (IMO) still king of the adventurers. Link to comment
SageRider
Sucks about the jobs, but congrats on the bike and the thought process!!! Link to comment

tallman
We bought our first house when I was between jobs, we had a baby on the way, and Beth had no job security. It worked out well and I'm sure your decision will also. To paraphrase, a bike will get you through times of no money better than money will get you through times of no bike... Link to comment

AdventurePoser
Hey all, thanks for all the validation about my thinking process and priorities! I knew I came to the right place! Pix to follow soon. Bikeopotamus is a little dinged up and scratced, but, hey, no one's gonna notice the dings I put on 'er... Now, if I can get some tips from you guys on riding on the dirt roads, I'll be in good shape! See you at the Unrally.... Cheers, Steve Link to comment
Joel
I, too, am bummed by that employment news, but you can't keep good folks down. Welcome back to the Muddy Side. And I wish you the best in tackling that unsolved opportunity. Link to comment
Joel
Now, if I can get some tips from you guys on riding on the dirt roads, I'll be in good shape! 1. Try not to do this unless you have a jeepload of people behind you to help pick Bikeopotamus up: 2. Stencil something clever on the underside of Bikeopotamus' side cases, such that it can only be read after a failure to follow rule #1. Saw a pic over on advrider where someone painted "AW SH!T" on the bottom of their Jesse's. Link to comment
rad
Now, if I can get some tips from you guys on riding on the dirt roads, I'll be in good shape! I have done a lot of nasty off road stuff on 1150's. Best suggestion, get training and go practice. Take a one day MSF dirt school. Use their small dirt bikes. The skills are exactly the same, just much easier to learn and master on a small bike. Watch for and come up here to do the one day dirt classes intended for big dual sports, including the 1150. These are free and done periodically by Doc Wong at Hollister hills. Google him, find info for his next class. My pig in Death Valley Link to comment
