David R
I have metal in the tranny oil on my bike. I found a used M94 out of a 95 GS will it fit and work? Splines on input shaft are good. David Link to comment
boatzo
David, I don't knoe of it will fit for sure. I think it will. But, why would you want to put an M94 in the bike? I believe they had shifting issues, but again, I am not an expert. Think about repairing your tranny. I had metal in mine, took it to Anton and he put in a new input shaft bearing, checked it all over and I am good to go. At a very reasonable cost, I might add. Link to comment
philbytx
+1 Why an M94. Get your M97 repaired may be the best way. Check out Anton's article HERE. As you can see, the M97 is considered an "upgraded" tranny from the M94. Link to comment
David R
Thanks for the quick reply. I saw metal in the oil and panicked. The m94 is not tested. I saw it at the beemer bone yard and thought for $250 I could keep riding. I would rather fix mine. I am going to ride it anther 1000 miles and change the oil again. I have had this bike less than 6 months and its more than I have ever spent on a vehicle even a car. After one of the longest winters the weather is finally getting good. I have not had a new bike in 19 years. I kept the old one just because I could, so if my tranny needs to be repaired, I can do it and ride the old /6. David Link to comment
boatzo
David, Change the trans oil. Ride the bike 100 miles or so , drain the oil and filter it through a coffee filter so that you can see what is in it (again). Then make some decisions. Also +1 on what Philby says. Link to comment
