pbharvey
A few weeks ago, a similar purchase was solicited by the IRS. I could understand that maybe, somewhere, there are armed IRS agents. But the Department of Education, they need shotguns? https://www.fbo.gov/index?id=16f1571b63e3d75d15583cc75b21d58c Link to comment

Allen Rowand
I'd rather have a Spas 15 for close quarters locker-to-locker combat. Link to comment

Firefight911
Tell me again why we need the US Department of Education? A better question! Then again, you can go to school to become a law enforcement officer, etc. Perhaps they are for use in the instruction of fire arms? I also like the why only 27 comment! Link to comment

Government programs seem to exist in perpetuity and nobody ever goes back and says "OK....we did this...is it working? Is it making things better or worse?" Dept of Education was created in 1977. What value has it added? What is its return on investment? As for the 870's, I'm confused as to why they don't have forend-mounted lights. It also makes me wonder if I have time to sneak away for a bit this weekend to turn some orange clay discs into orange clay dust with my 870. Link to comment

motoguy128
I agree, why have a federal department of education, when each states provides the primary managemnt of schools and you have local school boards. I cna understand a DEpt. of energy and Dept. of transportation because roads and power involve interstate commerce. Why we're on the subject, what other federal department could be eliminated withot any loss of services? The redundancy of local state and federal agencies gets a little rediculous. Link to comment

I think we're missing the real conundrum here -- how does Russell shoot clays in the dark?!? But back to the posted article, it lists "...only shotguns authorized for ED (US Department of Education) based on compatibility with ED existing shotgun inventory, certified armor and combat training and protocol, maintenance, and parts..." School sure has changed since I attended. Link to comment
