CaptainKcorb
About a year ago I replaced the front rotor buttons on my 2000 1100RT with a set received from Motobin in the UK. Their price and service were excellent and there was no difficulty replacing the buttons. The fit was fine and removed the excessive play entirely. One of the buttons come out shortly after installation and I put it down to not seating the clip properly. I checked all the rest and rechecked them regularly for a couple of months with no further issues. This morning during the spring cleaning (snow is leaving early in Toronto this year) I was shocked to find that a further five buttons have disappeared over about 12K miles since they were last checked. Now I'm frightened enough by them to head up to the dealer and pay the exorbitant cost of BMW replacements. Maybe Motobin had a temporary QC issue on these but I'd strongly recommend to anyone using them to keep checking them diligently, regardless of the mileage on them. Link to comment

OoPEZoO
I had the some issues with mine as well. It seems like the clips were never hardened during the manufacturing process. Mine were very soft metal, and I bent two of them during the install. I got some spares from another board member to replace those, but soon found another one missing. After a quick email to Motobins.......they shipped me a complete new set of clips free of charge. I removed all of the old ones, installed the new ones, and haven't had an issue since. I'm assuming they got a bad batch of clips Link to comment
CaptainKcorb
Yep Andy, I've sent them a post and hope to hear back. Also, to be correct, it turns out that only three more came out, I'd miscounted the holes at first. Cheers Link to comment
CaptainKcorb
To Motobins credit they responded promptly and today I received four replacement buttons and spring washers along with a set of full set of 24 c-clips. I'll still be keeping an eye on them but it's good to know that Motobins stands behind their stuff and makes it easy to deal with them. Thanks to Damien at Motobins for taking care of this. effexer1
Isn't that awesome? It just renews your faith in humanity when stuff like this happens. Just imagine what the world would be like if all business people really cared about the customer and their product. No more ponzi schemes... I could retire!!! Link to comment
boatzo
Good to hear that Motobins stands by their product. I have a question about these bobbins or maybe I should start a new thread? My front rotors had some play, I was told that I only needed to replace the bobbins that had the steel clip (3 I think). I bought enough for both rotors and proceeded to replace loose bobbins. After I was finished, I realized I had not replaced the ones with the clips. So I now have 6 bobbins on each rotor with the clips and the rotors are solid. IS THIS A PROBLEM ? Link to comment
OoPEZoO
My personal opinion.....I think you should be fine. After installing the Motobins bobbins, my rotors are solid as well. I don't understand why they even put floating rotors on these bikes to begin with. I guess its just the BMW way of complex engineering over common sense. The 1150's rotors are bolted straight to the wheel (the way they should be). I would keep an eye on them for a little while, but no more than I would have if I replaced them with the "correct" parts.
