Welcome, Stevo. My favorite roads are in Colorado. Going to retire there soon, but over on the western slope (Montrose). You're a lucky guy to be able to ride those tall-treed serpentine paths on a regular basis.

You're going to love the RT. It's got more vibration than your K, but it also has a lot more character. I rode mine for 100K, then sold it. Tried an FJR, then a V-strom. Both nice bikes. But I ended up back with an 1100RT (real men don't need a 6th gear).

Check out the ride calendar. Torrey, UT, is coming up in May. I think it's Torrey XIX. Shouldn't be more than a 6-7-hour ride from the Denver burbs. You'll make at least 30 new friends, I promise (oh, and noobs buy the beer, such as it is --- hey, it's Utah).

Welcome! I grew up in Boulder and return to Colorado often to visit relatives and ride. Wonderful country, great riding if you can stay out of the traffic jams on I-70 in the mountains!

I loved my 2000 R1100RT. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I did mine. Enjoy your ride.

Welcome to the group, Stevo. Enjoy your new bike. There are a number of nice rallies in Colorado. However, you might consider our Utah club's Red Rocks Rendezvous, June 17-20. We get lots of riders from Colorado, and about 300 riders total, so it's a smaller rally. Lots of great rides in southern Utah including Torrey, Zion NP, Bryce Canyon NP, N. rim of the Grand Canyon, and a number of national monuments. We'd love to have you come.

Welcome! No shortage of riding choices out by you.

I also had a '96 R1100RT bought new that I absolutely loved. 14 great years. Just traded it in at the end of last season for my R1200RT. Best looking RT IMO.
