Stampede Sunday

At the local BMW riders (citibeemers)sunday rendezvous spot I was unable to convience anyone to travel north they opted for west destination. With business to take care of I ventured out solo.

 

My travels to Ulster Community College along a multitude of Hudson Valley back roads was a success, a great winter ride with very little sand and run off to speak of considering we had 22 plus inches of snow on the ground just seven days ago. My ride got really interesting in the New Paltz area where Mohonk rd. turns to County rd. 6 then back to Mohonk rd. – approaching the clove rd. intersection I spied a young women signaling slow down, for some reason I do, looking ahead I see a herd of horses taking up both lanes of travel shoulder to shoulder so I pull over to the right come to a complete stop. A second or two later I realize those rushing equine know or care squat about staying to the right. A quick u-turn back to Clove rd. intersection I offer my assistance to said young women. Never was I so happy to be rejected. Thirty seconds later some 20-25 equine come trotting by, Clydesdales not but maybe Donkeys on steroids, city boy here.

Fight or flight instinct I chose flight, whole ordeal lasted maybe three four minutes. wasn't until several miles later I thought of taking photos, next time Calvin,
