palani
I have 2006 R1200rt with radio option. I am trying to remove the side panel (plastic) where the radio controls are. I seem to have difficulty in trying to disconnect the connector that connects to the left panel (electric connector to radio control). Can someone help explain with illustration to disconnect this connector? Link to comment
johnlt
It is really a bi*ch. I have done it with giant forceps but have also broken off the little clips but the connector is so difficult to remove, it stays in even without the clips. Another option is to remove the small panel on the inside (3 or 4 screws) which allows you to then remove the large plastic and just "hang" the little panel with connector in tact from the cluth lever. You still have to remove the connector to the powerlet. I've also just hung the complete panel with a coat hanger bent to fit. It works fine for adjust valves etc. If you want to know how the "latch/clip" works, take a good look at the connector to your heated seat. Same arrangement. Good luck Link to comment
Hall Vince
I usually get a mediun flat bladed screwdriver, lever the connector up a bit, then press the lock tag, then continue to lever the clip off. Not much pressure required and it'll pop off. I've now got the hang of it or my lock tag is busted ;-) hth \v/ Link to comment
RT Fan
I removed all the side panels last spring on my RT. I just left the panel complete and twisted it out of the way and layed it on top of the gas tank. I did not disconnect any wires. Link to comment
