I don't follow off-season stuff in racing, thus was quite surprised to see Jason DiSalvo on a Triumph at Phillip Island.

I wonder how Triumph decided on Jason, among all the American riders they likely could have chosen? I certainly understand the desire to have an American face on the grid.

If you look on my FB page he is a friend of mine and there is some chatter about how he got it. The call came out of the blue on a weds/thurs and he had to fly out to Portugal by that fri if he wanted the ride. He and his dad were scouting out sponsors and a ride in AMA and other series at the time as M4 had let him go. I guess since he had riden 250s over there some time ago he was known enough to grab and as of now is super happy with the team and the bike. Hell after hearing his review of the tripple I am giving some thought to grabbing one when funds will allow.

Jason, for whatever reason, has always generated lots of hype. I don't know if it is because he rode in Europe for a while or what, but people seem to think he's got it going on.

Personally...I've never seen whatever it is that has everyone all worked up. When he's fast, he's fast, but he seems to make a lot of stupid mistakes and when he has a problem with the bike he can't ride around it.

I fully expect his teammate to be riding circles around him on a regular basis.

Unfortunately I agree... I like the kid alot, he is really a nice guy away from the track and pretty humble but on the bike, well... I do wish him the best success in WSS but Davies is surely going to outshine
