is HULU an option for a person without cable

I am just now ( I know probably 5 years behind) seeing, viewing, and learning about HULU. I just signed up for an account today. NO cost, I was thinking it was a pay per view type site. any experienced HULU users out there who can explain how it all works. I was thinking that most of my favorite tv shows would be posted, 1 - 2 weeks after airing. that was ok with me. when I registered my account I noticed a lot of tv shows only had maybe one or two seasons of maybe 6 seasons. Just wondering how it all works.

Sounds like you already figured it out. Its kind of a crap shoot when it comes to what they have. The picture quality is good, but not excellent. Its OK on a computer monitor, but I'm not sure how well it would do if you shot it over to a TV screen. I don't know if I would ever use it to keep up to date for a series type show.........I just use it to throw on episodes of the family guy when I'm bored.

As far as a replacement for cable. I don't know, I'm sure it could be. After all, if you didn't have cable, how would you know what you are missing? The only reason I have cable at all is because Comcast throws it in for "free" with my high speed internet connection. If they tried to charge me a single $.01 extra for it I would cancel right away.

I do already have cable, from Comcast. but to be honest I really do not need it. however there are some programs we do watch. But we do not have to be "up to date" for example I loved the old MONK series. if HULU had all the monk series shows, say two weeks late that would be fine with me. My wife watches NUMB3RS, again if she was two weeks behind in watching no problem.

I hooked my PC up to my 40" TV, setting was 1920 X 1080 at 60hz. It was good enough for me.

I was just wondering (and I will play with it more this weekend) how many TV shows eventually make it to HULU. Also eventually how many mainstream moviess eventually make it. So for examople what is the chance Blind Side will be on HULU, say in 4 more months.

those are more of the questions I have.

You may also want to check the network's sites...

Many, many times they have full espisodes on their site.

But, again, its not going to be all the shows...

Check CBS.com for numb3rs full episodes.

You'd loose the news and weather channel (my cable company's new channel does weather on the 9s every nine minutes - I would miss that the most)

it is funny you say that, I love to watch my weather on the 8's. but weather.com is not bad, I do use that when I am at work. not as up to date as the weather channel, or as in-depth, but really for me, I just want the warnings, and 10 days forecast most of the time. but that is a good point thanks

Just keep in mind, you can get a lot of "stuff" from Hulu and the network sites. However, you can also "fill in the gaps" from iTunes and the like. Not everything is available online through Hulu or otherwise. However, I can pretty much guarantee you that you won't spend nearly as much on iTunes TV shows as you would for your cable bill.

We have a Mac Mini hooked up to each TV as an HTPC and use Hulu (via Plex) to watch some stuff that way. The point is that if you have a computer hooked up to your tv already, you can just get a tuner (such as an eyeTV for Mac) and with DVR software (it came with my eyeTV) you can watch and record over the air HD broadcasts. If you haven't tried over the air broadcasts in a while, you're probably in for a surprise how good (quality of signal, not necessarily content) they are. As a side note, one of our local stations has a 24 hour local weather sub-channel.

With that said, as to the question of "which seasons are available?" It's a crap shoot. Hulu will have a lot of shows (though they won't have any Comedy Central stuff starting next week) for two weeks after they air and then they're gone.

Install it on your Goggle home page as a link.

Every type of tv from news to comedy from just about

every country and major city in the world.

Its really great. I myself do not use cable tv.

I find it somewhat limiting although occasionally entertaining.
