Zern
For a trip this year I'm thinking of leaving Connecticut and heading north and doing a loop through Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick. Anyone I've spoken to who has been up there has said they loved it. Unlike the month-long cross country trip of last year, I'll probably limit this one to 1 1/2 to 2 weeks. I don't know when I'll be doing this trip yet so I'm open to suggestions on when a good time of the year to make this trip is. Never having been to either of these places, I'm also open to opinions on what's good to see and do. Of course if anyone wants to meet up along with way, or even ride along for the trip, that's always great too! Kip Edit: Whoops, I just noticed I posted this in ride tales instead Ride Planning. xbubblehead
I did the trip last year - August 8th-21st, and the weather was great. We did PEI, Nova Scotia and NewFoundland and the only rain we hit was at night when we were sleeping. if you want, view some pictures here. Link to comment
psmitty
I hear June is a perfect time. Unfortunately, I wouldn't know because my wife and I caught the backlash of Arlene a couple years ago. Link to comment

marcopolo
If you're going to Nova Scotia, definitely plan on going to Cape Breton Island and riding the Cabot Trail. If you do that, I'd suggest staying in Mabou at the Duncreigan Inn. It's owned by a couple of ex-pat Americans: http://www.duncreigan.ca/ My wife and I spent a couple of nights there when we rode the Cabot Trail in 2005 and really enjoyed it. I made the same recommendation to RevRay at last year's UnRally in NH and he said afterward that he too enjoyed his two nights there. I also suggested that, if he stayed in Mabou, that he eat and enjoy some liquid refreshments at the Red Shoe Pub. He did that as well and was happy with the choice. http://www.redshoepub.com/ Link to comment
Deadboy
Cabot Trail is amazing....be sure to book your ferry reservations as it can be booked solid well in advance. I was there late May/early June a few years ago and really enjoyed it. Rode both NS and Newfoundland.....also enjoyed St. Johns and Cape Spear... Link to comment
marcopolo
No ferries to worry about if you're talking only PEI and Nova Scotia. There is a long (eight-mile) bridge to PEI from New Brunswick now, though you can take a ferry if you choose. If you take Confederation Bridge, there's no charge to get onto the island. Don't be fooled, though; you have to pay to get off. http://www.confederationbridge.com/en/ Link to comment
Deadboy
Wouldn't it be a lot faster to take the boat from Bar Harbor? Why not get where you want to be as soon as possible.... Link to comment

Well, that's for both ways, and have you seen the size of that bridge? Bike's $17 (if I read that correctly). Link to comment

marcopolo
There's some good info available at the Nova Scotia provincial tourism site, including ability to order their free hardcopy motorcycle touring guide. http://novascotia.com/en/home/whattodo/touring/motorcycling.aspx Link to comment
