Couchrocket
Just way cool. Another example of the way that the history of this place, and its people, become a special part of our collective life! Link to comment
Dennis Andress
What options? Shift assist, ESAII, ASC, etc.? Chrome don't get you home. We wanted none, but the stock of 2009 bikes didn't leave much choice. In fact, all 26 left in the warehouse were exactly the same; light gray metalic, shift assist, luggage grid, and low seat. I'm dealing with the seat. Link to comment

They ain't pretty, but they help a bunch. Hope to see the twins in Torrey. Torrey and the UN are short list for this year. Both of us feel the riding position is very similar to the RS's. The bars are wider too. The air coming off the windshield is the quietest I've heard in a long time. Laney has an MRA Touring screen on the way. I will probably get something similar, maybe the Laminar Lip. Link to comment

Maybe it's time for a "Ride Like a Girl" school... Kathy, Lisa, Norah, Jacqueline, what do you girls think? Boney, you're on - me and the other Geek would love to hear what Cary's got in his shop And it's not RICH Geeks, it's In Debt Geeks. Link to comment

Kathy R
OMG I cannot wait to follow you and watch you disappear into the distance on that thang!!! Will you wait for me, like you did on the RT? Really, outstanding to see you both got your new rides. I can't wait to see you IN PERSON. It's been WAY TOO LONG!! Link to comment
BlueTools
I'm dealing with the seat. How do you do that? I'm not being a smart aleck... just curious. In any case, those bikes are very nice! I spent part of yesterday afternoon at my local dealer's open house (S1000RR shindig) and must have straddled four or five K 1x00 S bikes. I can see how you were drawn to them. Enjoy. Link to comment

I can see how you were drawn to them. Enjoy. The low seat is flatter than the regular. That seems to make it more comfortable. Stopping at a light on the way home I noticed that my lower back was scrunched up and tight -- the seat is too low. I put my old sheepskin pad on so I would sit higher. It's not as comfortable as the bare seat, but I've often said that it works best on the shelve where I can put my helmet on it. Now that I'm sitting higher I find that the wind off of the windshield hits me in the chin. I liked it better before.... I can't find where right now, but I once saw a simple kit that raised the front of the seat 1/2". It was nothing more than longer bolts and spacers that lift the knobs the front of the seat slides into. The real answer is going to be a Bill Mayer seat. It's kind of sad to get a good discount on the bike only to spent more bucks on a seat but I guess that's the way it is. Oh, by the way, I'm 6'4" Link to comment

I don't know if they make 'em for one of them newfangled sideways-mounted water-cooled bikes, but you just described Big Mak's "SeatJacks" for the R1100RT. I don't see them on his website (http://www.bigmakaccess.com/) but Mark's always been bad about keeping it updated. I'll bet a phone call to him would get you sorted out. Failing that, no doubt the folks at McMaster Carr would have bolts and appropriately sized pieces of delrin that you could use to DIY. Link to comment
Dennis Andress
Probably similar. The bolts are also the rear mounts for the tank. The knobs have a long shank that slides through the rubber grommets on the tank. Whatever is used as a space would have to fit around this shank. The kit also had an assortment of stick on rubber bumpers to go between the seat and the frame. Link to comment
Whip
FYI....I messed with the seat hieght some, but it messed up the handling of the bike. I ended up just dealing with it. The Corbin was very comfy for long trips. I have heard good things about the Sargent as well. Link to comment

Endobob
I look forward to seeing the 2 of you on those matching bikes at the UN this year! I have avoided going to any of the dealers in my area for the past few months. Love my K12RS and feel I should have many more fantastic miles on it, however, I'm not sure I could resisted some of the deep discounts being offered. Link to comment
