TB Synch After Throttle Cable Replacement

All,

I just replaced the, 6' long, throttle cable on my early 96RT, and now need to synch my TBs.

Does anyone have a good starting place for my left side cable adjusters?

There should really be no adjustment for the left side if it is anything like my 2000 RT. If your left side has the throttle position sensor all you need to do is make sure it closes fully to the throttle stop which should not have changed. there should be a small amount of play at closed throttle position. Then all you need to do is sync the right side to the left side and your done. The key here is that changing the throttle cable should not have changed the throttle stop setting.

Boxerdad, on those (single) cable early systems there are lots of adjustment possibilities..

I can’t give you any real hard measurements but ideally they should all start out about the same distance out..

I seldom mess with that early single cable system anymore so a guess would be to start with all the furrels about ¼”-3/8” out from seated then see how much slack you have there.. If still too much slack try running them out an additional ½ or 1 turn each..

Once close & with just a little cable slack then get the side to side as close a possible by eye/feel so they start opening at the same time & hit the full open stops at the same time.. The go ahead & start the engine & do a proper cross side balance (hot engine & NO choke on)

Twisty

The '96 RT had a completely different setup. One throttle cable going to both sides rather than one cable going to the bowden box, then two short cables going from there to the TB.

Honestly I don't know how that impacts a TB Sync procedure, but the system itself is very different.
