Help w/ BMW Charger: Error

I have a 2006 RT and use the BMW "grey box computer" charger. Never had a problem with this. I know about the ignition sequence to properly charge.

The bike just had a Centech fuse panel installed last week. Now, I plug into the front socket as usual, and it goes into 1/3 as normal. Makes it to 2/3, and for a while. Then red Error (approx. time lapse 24 hours).

Anyone have similar problem? Solution? Would Centech wiring interfere somehow?

Thanks.

I would disconnect the centech and check it again. could be a resistive connection or a ground fault of some kind that is preventing the battery to reach full charge. The battery could also have sulfited and the charger was unsuccesfull at fixing that.

So then there must be some kind of a load on the battery associated with the centech. Maybe the battery terminal connection(s) were not tight? Probably worth hooking the centech back up again double-checking connections just to see if the problem is reproducible.

I can't think of anything specific to the fuse block that might cause that problem. Maybe scuffed insulation or pinched wire?

Do the centech ground circuits return to the battery or to the frame somewhere?

Do you have access to a volt meter?

Is there a relay to energize the centech fuse block when the iginition is on? Did you tap off any accessory plug (including the GPS power connector) to drive the relay?

If so, I'll bet that's the problem!

I called the service manager, and from my understanding I think the problem is the tech wired the relay to the passenger socket as the trigger. This essentially shuts down the charger..

He said BMW recommends tapping into the parking lights for the relay instead, so they will be picking up the bike, to fix the problem.

You saved me alot of time, thanks!!
