It's winter in Tucson so Glenn (Arizona_oldguy) and I decided we wanted to ride, even though the weather forecast predicted 60% chance of rain. They were right on, we got rained on over half the time we rode but it was "that dry kind of rain" so we enjoyed it anyway. Our route took us from Tucson to Sonoita to Tombstone to Bisbee to Chiricahua National Monument to Wilcox and back to Tucson. Great riding and good roads. First stop was at Tombstone where we stopped for breakfast at the local diner for the "actors" used in the daily shootout.

The Pioneer Grill serves a great breakfast. Believe it or not, that plate of biscuits and sauage gravey was only a "half" order!

From Tombstone, we road over to Bisbee which is a old Victorian style mining town located a mile high near the Mexican border. We wanted to look at the local antique bike shop, The Bisbee Bicycle Brothel, but it was closed during the week!! The big building is the Copper Queen Hotel, a center piece of the town.

From Bisbee, we traveled over to the Chiricahua Nation Monument which is about 30 miles south east of Wilcox.

We rode up to the ridge line overlooks and encounter snow.

We then rode down to Wilcox for a great lunch at a true "railroad diner"

After a late lunch, we booked it on home on the interstate and called it a day; a very enjoyable day.

John, Your killing me. Haven't been on a bike in three months. About to go stir crazy in this house. Any way looked like a good day,

Hi Brad. I may try to make a run to Texas sometime late next month (after any risk of ice/snow). If I do, I'll check in and maybe we can do a ride or at least have a beer.

John, many thanks...Jennifer and I will be using Maricopa AZ (my son's home) as a base for our exploration of Southern AZ the first week of April.

Do you have any suggestions of things we should def. see? We plan on Bisbee, Patagonia, Kitt Peak, and Tombstone...

Cheers,

Steve

Yes, I'd add Mt. Lemmon, and Saguaro East National Park. There is also some great riding east of Phoenix on Hwy 60. The Salt River Canyon is awsome.
