FLTRI
Caveat: I found this app on another board I frequent, and was reading about it when the developer posted to the thread. That initself surprised me a bit. I was even more surprised when he offered a free download of the app to the first two folks to ask. There was a catch though, I had to use the app, and post a review to a couple of other sites… So, I’m carrying out my end of the deal. If the administrators of this board find this inappropriate, do what you must. Keep in mind though, I would have probably posted a review if I had paid for it anyway, and the price to buy my opinion is much, much higher than $6.99… This app is called Greatest Roads, and its intent is to share your favorite routes, or “Stretches” as they are called in the app, with other riders. The developer describes it best when he said, “Think of this as a restaurant review site, but for roads. Sure, you could review restaurants you've been to, but those are less valuable because, well, you know what the restaurants are like. The real value, both to you and to the growth of the service, has to involve exchanging information with other people. By the way, this applies to road conditions, weather, closures and other timely updates that you can now achieve within the comments. There are piles of other apps that let you record your own travels, but it's a crowded space and this is where we see how we can offer something new and usable.” Here’s the link to the website to the app, so you can read for yourself how it works. Greatest Road Overall I like this app, and would recommend it. I see it being extremely useful if you are riding outside of your local area, and want to find a good place to ride for the day. It’s intuitive, and easy to use. It’s also pretty easy to input your own favorite “Stretches” to share with other riders. The other thing that impressed me was how involved the developer, Daniel Pifco, is with this app. There is a forum on the app’s website, and he is involved answering questions, and listening to feedback. He’s a rider, and is very involved in making this app successful. The app is brand new, and he is tweaking it daily using input he receives. In this day and age, it’s refreshing to see an entrepreneur that truly believes in their product. The downside? Well, IMHO, it could be the users. This app is wholly dependant on the users themselves to upload their favorite rides. If we, the users, enter our favorite rides to share with others, the app will work. However, if the users enter crappy routes, or just use it as a mapping program to get them from their front door to K-Mart in the next town over, it will just fill it up with useless data. RichEdwards
Another good iPhone/iPod app is Motorcycle Minder. It records all the service data for your bike(s) and car(s) as well as recording your insurance and registration info. Link to comment

I spent an evening transferring all my "little notebooks" I keep in the glove boxes into the app and now I have everything that I have ever done to my car/bike in my pocket at all times. Really keeps me on top of Danielle's car because I hardly ever drive it and it tends to get forgotten in the circle of maintenance. I also use it to keep track of frequently used part numbers and such for when I stop at the autoparts store for things like oil/filters/windshield wipers/spark plugs. Saves me loads of time Vs. looking it up in the little store computer or asking the bozo behind the counter. Link to comment
