FLrider
Neat little town. Great roads to ride in and around on. Great "couples" ride as their are plenty of shops to keep the girls busy and plenty of drinking establishments to keep me busy. There's a classic car event in late March. Then Leesburg Bike Fest in April (I think). Let me know if anyone is interested. http://www.whattodoinmtdora.com/?gclid=CPWzsYfGv58CFQTAsgodMGe-DQ Link to comment
BFish
For a few years BMWST folks used to meet annually at the Lakeside Inn for breakfast. Been a while since the last get together. Link to comment

FLrider
Mt. Dora? Isn't "Mt." an oxymoron in Florida? Hey! At 184 feet above sea level, it's Florida's mountain top! Link to comment

Matts_12GS
I miss that lakeside in breakfast. I do know a great little German bakery not too far from there though... And I learned about another place that is kick booty for some lunch and kind of eclectic shopping that's not too awful far away. Link to comment
roadscholar
I get breathless just thinkin about it!! That's as good as the t-shirt, "I climbed Mt. Dora". I used to terrorize the old people around there on a Vespa and Honda 50 when I was 14, you could get a good run going off some of those hills. Link to comment

Actually, we have the really high Florida mountains up here in the panhandle. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Britton_Hill I get a nose bleed every time I ride up that high... Great "couples" ride as their are plenty of shops to keep the girls busy and plenty of drinking establishments to keep me busy. O'Keefe's in Tavares has awesome food and a really nice beer lineup (for those who like something beyond what is advertised during sporting events). Stopped there for lunch during the FLC2C ride last fall. Link to comment
Francois_Dumas
I remember Mt. Dora! Wasn't that where the old buses were parked near the lake? Link to comment
roadscholar
Francois, It's possible, believe they have open air trolley-looking buses running around. It seems to me we only made it as far as Eustis though, then headed back, several having time constraints. I could be wrong though, been thru there with a bunch of different groups. You'd probably remember it though, it's the only one of those little towns with hills. Link to comment
Francois_Dumas
I leafed through my Smugmug albums...... Are those in Mt. Dora or Eustice? I don't know anymore..... Link to comment
RichEdwards
A bit of a quick plan but we are having lunch with Leslie (see post in Ride Planning) on Friday in Mt. Dora. All are welcome to join us. Link to comment
roadscholar
It appears we were indeed in Mt. Dora, yes it's all coming back now. The buses, I'm going with Mt. Dora. Link to comment
droda
Hey FL Rider I'm a new member from Miami. I noticed you are planning a Mt. Dora ride. I just bought a k1300gt and am interested in finding riding events and riding groups in the area. If you end up doing the Mt Dora ride, please notify me and I will try to make it - maybe with my wife if I can convince her. Are there a lot of members in the Florida area that get together for rides. If so is there a forum or buddy list I could patch into? Link to comment
